Braies Lake
Lake Braies (Lago di Braies) is an absolutely special place of power in South Tyrol in the Dolomites! It is an argument in favour of the slogan: Visit Trentino! It is not called the "Pearl of the Lakes" for nothing. This wonderful place is situated on the northern edge of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park at just under 1500m above sea level and is surrounded by the pale peaks of the Dolomites. Its deep blue and slightly emerald-coloured water is particularly beautiful. It is part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park and a protected natural monument. The Braies Lake is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites and today one of the most visited lakes in South Tyrol. And this despite the fact that apart from an existing historic hotel, a boathouse and many hiking trails, there are no tourist infrastructures there.
For enthusiastic photographers and drone pilots like us, this is an absolute must-see! It is very worthwhile to be there early in the morning, because especially in the summer months the crowds are very big early on. This can mean that you have to wait a while for a rowing boat. However, these are then also really very beautiful. Because the lake has become so famous in recent years, it attracts countless tourists. So if you want to have the lake to yourself, it is best to be there at or even before sunrise.
In the summer months, nostalgic rowing boats are available, which until 100 years ago were the only way to reach the south shore of the lake.
Boat hire is possible there from June to October. During this period, the boat rental is open daily from 10:00 - 18:00. Here, too, it's worth getting there very early, because the queues are quite long from 10 a.m. onwards.
The lake is really worth seeing from different perspectives. Of course, our drone images from a bird's eye view bring out this beauty of the lake again in a special way. If you are interested in pictures of lakes, landscapes or other nature, feel free to write us a message:
