My path to self-employment

The 5 aspects

1. Courage to be vulnerable: Starting out as a self-employed person required courage to enter uncertain territory. What always gave me strength was the certainty that I was at the helm. I learnt that it was okay to be vulnerable and ask for help. This openness allowed me to learn from others and build strong networks.

2. Adaptability as the key to success: Flexibility is essential. I had to be ready to adapt to changing circumstances, learn new technologies and respond to market changes. This adaptability proved to be crucial for the survival and success of my company.

3. The right team is worth its weight in gold: no one can do everything alone. Building a competent and committed team was a real game changer for me. Collaboration and teamwork are essential to achieving ambitious goals. I have learnt to use the individual strengths of my team members and to promote them in order to move the company forward.

4. Continuous learning: Self-employment requires a permanent willingness to learn. I invest time and resources to continuously improve my knowledge and skills. Striving to develop and expand my knowledge is an essential part of entrepreneurial success.

5. Self-care is non-negotiable: the path to independence can be exhausting. I realised the importance of self-care and balance. Time for rest, regular breaks and a healthy work-life balance are crucial to staying productive in the long term.

These five aspects have shaped my path to self-employment and changed my entrepreneurial thinking. They are not only important lessons, but also constant companions on my journey, which continues to be characterised by growth, challenges and new insights.
