As a Mallorca photographer, I naturally spend a lot of time travelling around the island on business. If you're on holiday on Mallorca, you usually want to take lots of great memories with you. Pictures are of course particularly suitable for this, as the island is more diverse than almost any other Mediterranean island. Although it is not the largest, it takes over an hour to drive across the island. So that you don't have to search too long, I have compiled the 10 best shooting locations here. This way, you are guaranteed to have particularly beautiful memories of Mallorca.
Tips from a Mallorca photographer: The 10 best shooting locations
Mallorca is no longer an insider tip and has been attracting visitors from all over the world for years. No longer just a place for beach holidays and relaxation, Mallorca is also home to more and more expats from all over the world. The island offers a remarkable variety of breathtaking backdrops that are perfect for photo shoots of all kinds. As a Mallorca photographer, I fulfilled my dream of having my own home on the island last year. But why is Mallorca such a sought-after destination for photographers and models?
The Mediterranean climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year forms the basis for an attractive shooting environment all year round. This is accompanied by long days, even well into September and October. The soft light of the setting sun can still be utilised to great effect. This is something that has always fascinated me about Mallorca: The light that makes both the surroundings and my subjects shine in a natural way.
But it's not just the long hours of sunshine that make Mallorca a paradise for photography. The island impresses with a remarkable variety of landscapes. From endless sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs and picturesque mountain villages. This versatility makes Mallorca a unique location that offers a wide range of possibilities for photo shoots.
Who is a shoot on Mallorca for?
From couples who want to capture their best moments in a romantic setting, to families looking for idyllic locations for souvenir photos. To successful self-employed people who want to capture the personal history of their company. Mallorca offers an equally suitable stage for every occasion and every motif.
Mallorca offers a wealth of inspiration for every model and every Mallorca photographer in search of artistic expression. The historic towns with their narrow streets, picturesque squares and magnificent buildings offer a rich cultural heritage as a backdrop for sophisticated shoots. This is why the fashion industry in particular has discovered the island for itself in recent years.
Finally, Mallorca also offers the perfect setting for companies and influencers looking for a stage for their brand identity. The elegance of the marinas, the exclusive luxury hotels or the bustling streets of the city of Palma are ideal for high-quality business shoots and visual content related to branding.
In short, for me as a Mallorca photographer, the island is a place that fulfils the needs and creative ambitions of a wide range of people.
Business and brand shoots
Over the years, my focus has increasingly shifted to business and brand shoots and now also to the creation of user-generated content (UGC). With the rich palette of backdrops that can capture the identity and message of companies in a fascinating way, I handle numerous shoots every year as a Mallorca photographer. From exclusive marinas to historic old towns, each setting tells a story and offers the opportunity to bring brands to life visually.
The focus on business shoots makes it possible to present products, services and companies in an environment that radiates elegance, sophistication and authenticity. These shoots emphasise professionalism and credibility in a natural environment to create an appealing image for potential customers on websites and other media.
My 10 most beautiful shooting spots on Mallorca
- Es Trenc: Mallorca's longest natural beach is often busy, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. Located close to Campos, there are several small restaurants on the beach itself. The entrances, which are a little further away from the town, still always offer a quiet corner for photo shoots. This secluded beach with its golden sand dunes and crystal-clear water provides a picturesque backdrop for romantic, natural or adventurous shoots. So this spot is definitely worth a try!
- Valldemossa: Just 20 kilometres from Palma, the charming mountain village of Valldemossa impresses with its narrow streets, colourful flowers and historic stone houses. With just under 2,000 inhabitants, it is a little off the tourist hotspots - outside of the summer season! This allows an insight into the quieter and more authentic life of the islanders. For romantic shoots with a touch of nostalgia, the village offers a picturesque backdrop for artistic brand shoots.
- Cala Torta: The picturesque bay of Cala Torta, hidden in the north-east of Mallorcais a hidden treasure for photo shoots. The crystal-clear, azure blue water, surrounded by high cliffs and an unspoilt landscape, forms a natural stage for a variety of shots. The rustic beauty and romantic atmosphere provide an ideal backdrop for both adventurous, active and professional, elegant shoots. You are rarely disturbed by others here. Bonus: The golden rays of the sun over the blue water create a unique light, especially at sunset. Cala Torta is a place in the unspoilt wilderness that has often provided me with a rich backdrop for unique and unforgettable picture moments.
- Vineyards around Binissalem: The backdrop of Mallorca's vineyards is framed by the rugged slopes of the surrounding hills. With its rustic charm, not only the town itself but also the idyllic surroundings offer the perfect space for stylish, relaxed shoots. Binissalem, 22 kilometres from Palma, is therefore also known as the island's wine capital.
- Serra de Tramuntana: As a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the north-west of the island, this mountain range impresses with its steep cliffs, idyllic villages and beautiful views. With a total length of 87 kilometres, there are endless spots for photoshoots in an impressive landscape. The most famous viewpoint, and therefore unfortunately also the most visited, is the Mirador des Colmer 200 metres above the water. As one of Mallorca's most popular postcard motifs, I love shooting here. This is especially true at sunset - but only in the low season, when you have the spot to yourself.
- Port d'Andratx: Port d'Andratx is a harbour town that presents itself as the perfect shooting spot on Mallorca. The white yachts, calm waters and charming cafés give this place a luxurious atmosphere. The waterfront promenade and the Mediterranean architecture form an idyllic backdrop for stylish, high-quality shoots. A mixture of exclusive elegance and natural beauty makes this location a first-class choice for my business photo shoots. The slight contrast between exclusivity and the flair of Mediterranean life creates an interesting tension in the pictures. A dream location for stylish, high-quality shoots to capture the impression of elegance and sophistication that is often present on Mallorca. Many of my branding clients use this impression to emphasise their own professionalism and exclusivity.
- Deià: Deià, a picturesque mountain village on Mallorca, fascinates with its artistic atmosphere and mesmerising landscape. With its many streams fed by mountain springs, the village at the foot of Mount Teix overlooking the sea has always attracted artists and creatives. The charming stone houses, cobbled streets and lush gardens give this place a unique charm.
- Cap de Formentor: The drive along the almost 13-kilometre-long winding road from Port de Pollença alone makes this place worth a visit. Formentor, the spectacular peninsula in the north of Mallorca, reveals a majestic landscape for truly special photo shoots. The rugged cliffs that drop steeply into the turquoise blue sea form an impressive backdrop for unique shots. The lighthouse at the end of the peninsula offers a breathtaking panoramic view and is a characteristic highlight of this rocky headland. Cap de Formentor is a place of contrasts, where rugged nature meets the sea, which is not always calm, making for unforgettable shots in a breathtaking setting. My tip: the secluded Cala Figuera beach directly below.
- Palma's old town: One of my absolute favourites is definitely Palma's old town. With its narrow streets, historic buildings and hidden squares, it offers a versatile backdrop for a wide variety of shoots. This location is particularly popular with my clients for business shoots. The numerous cafés as well as the historic natural stone walls are ideal backdrops. For many self-employed people, Palma conveys exactly the mixture of professionalism and attitude to life that is needed to visually represent a successful and modern company.
- Cala Varques: Finally, in the east of the Balearic island, there is a hidden bay with unspoilt sand and clear water. We organise many model shoots here - perfect for natural or intimate shots. The rugged beauty offers a romantic backdrop far away from the hustle and bustle. Located directly in the nature reserve, this beach can be reached from Sales de Mallorca in just 4 kilometres. As with many other once deserted places on Mallorca, Cala Varques is no longer quite as unknown as it used to be, but it is still usually deserted in the low season. Ships often anchor here in summer. Nevertheless, there is no infrastructure on the beach, which makes it particularly important to handle plastic waste responsibly. To summarise, a great place that should be preserved.
