My top 5 boutique hotels in Palma de Mallorca
Hotel recommendation Palma de Mallorca - My top 5 boutique hotels
For many, Palma is a holiday destination - for us as photographers on Mallorca, it is a temporary home. We live and work here for large parts of the year. And precisely because we know the city well, we are always discovering new favourite places - including among the hotels.
Part of my job is to know very good and exclusive locations. Places that are not only photogenic, but also have atmosphere. For shoots, for recommendations to my clients, for content - and sometimes simply for my private life. I love good hotels that combine exactly that: Design, tranquillity, quality and exclusivity. And because this is not only a professional but also a private issue for me, a planned day off quickly turns into personal location scouting.
We regularly treat ourselves to an overnight stay in one of these special hotels in the centre of Palma - because it's worth it. The city changes depending on your perspective, and waking up in a beautiful hotel and being able to walk straight into Palma's old town is an experience in itself.
And: many boutique hotels in Palma are also a great option in winter. It's often quieter and the prices are a little cheaper - but it's worth checking opening times and availability, as not all hotels are open all year round.
Here are my top 5 hotel recommendations in Palma de Mallorca - all right in the city, all stylish, and all from my own experience.
1st Hotel Sant Francesc - My personal favourite
If I had to name one hotel in Palma that I would book again in a heartbeat, it would be the Hotel Sant Francesc.
The former city palace was remodelled with great sensitivity: stylish, quiet, elegant - but without distance. The mixture of historical elements and modern design is a real success. You can feel that attention has been paid to every detail.
The rooms are spacious, bright, with well thought-out interiors - wood, natural colours, good materials. Bathrooms with natural light, high-quality textiles, clear lines.
My highlight: the roof terrace with a view of the basilica of the same name. Whether for coffee in the morning or an aperitif in the evening - everything feels special here. It's a dream for photography, by the way, especially with the light in the early evening.
The „Quadrat“ restaurant in the inner courtyard is a recommendation in itself - discreetly staged, with modern Mediterranean cuisine and good service.
2. Es Llorenç - Stylish, modern, with a sea view
Es Llorenç Parc de la Mar is located in the historic La Calatrava neighbourhood - in one of those narrow streets that you almost overlook if you don't know the area. But behind it lies one of the city's most sophisticated design hotels.
The furnishings? Contemporary, clear, luxurious. Everything here is harmonious - from the reception to the bathroom. The rooms have a calm, high-quality feel without being sterile. Materials such as wood, stone and fabrics in muted colours create a warm atmosphere.
The roof terrace with infinity pool and view of the bay is spectacular. No exaggerated „wow“, but a natural luxury. Plus a spa area that's also worth a visit in winter - with hammam, treatments and tranquillity.
The restaurant „DINS“ under the management of Santi Taura is one of the best addresses in Palma - creative, authentic and high quality.
3rd Concepció by Nobis - Scandinavian design meets Mallorcan flair
This hotel is perfect for design lovers: the Concepció by Nobis is located on the edge of Santa Catalina, in the centre but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
Here, Nordic minimalism meets Mallorcan materials - lots of light, light wood, linen, stone and clear colours. Everything is calm, well thought-out and inviting.
The inner courtyard is a small retreat - pool, lounge furniture, a quiet spot in the middle of the city.
The hotel's cuisine is also impressive: the restaurant serves modern dishes with a regional flavour, perfectly coordinated with the style of the hotel.
I have both photographed and stayed there privately - both with the same conclusion: stylish, pleasant and a real haven of peace.
4th Nobis Hotel Palma - elegance in the old town
A newcomer among the boutique hotels in Palma - but one with great potential: the Nobis Hotel Palma, right in the historic centre.
The former city palace has been extensively renovated and rethought. The result is a place that breathes history, but is modern and accessible at the same time.
The rooms are spacious, with clear lines and many lovely details. The public areas - lobby, library, inner courtyard - invite you to linger.
Plus an elegant spa area, a good restaurant and, above all, this central location. From here you can explore Palma perfectly on foot - from the market to the cathedral.
5th Can Bordoy - Individual & different
If you are looking for something really special, you will find it at Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden. This hotel is everything - except ordinary.
Hidden away in La Lonja, this former private house lies behind an inconspicuous façade. Inside: velvety curtains, antique furniture, free-standing bathtubs, hidden corridors. A hotel with a lot of character that cannot be pigeonholed.
The garden in the inner courtyard is an oasis - with a pool, mature trees and plenty of peace and quiet. The „Botànic“ restaurant offers creative, plant-based cuisine of a very high standard.
I've already been there for shoots and for dinner - both were wonderful. Anyone who loves individuality will feel at home here.
Hotel recommendation Palma de Mallorca - boutique hotels that do more than just look good
These five hotels have one thing in common: they are not only stylish, but also offer real experiences. Whether for a special occasion, a conscious time-out or simply to test how beautiful Palma can be overnight - each of these addresses is a recommendation that I stand behind.
And: a stay in these hotels is particularly worthwhile outside the high season. It is quieter, more personal - and often a little more relaxed in terms of price.
